Kennel Assistant

Overall Responsibility:

• Conduct all interactions with clients, staff and management according to Black Creek Animal Hospital values to foster a productive and positive team environment.
• Assist in the care and treatment of animals admitted to Black Creek Animal Hospital. 
• Provide assistance to professional staff.
• Help to maintain a sanitary environment and a functionally well organized service within the hospital.

Principle Responsibilities

• Administrative Tasks

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 education (can be in progress)
• Highly competent interpersonal skills
• Pleasant, polite and professional telephone manner
• Experience with companion animals
• Competent computing skills

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

• Experience in a service environment
• Experience with veterinary equipment
• Experience with AVImark
• Experience in a veterinary hospital environment

Reception

Overall Responsibility: 

  • Conduct all interactions with clients, staff and management according to Black Creek Animal Hospital values to foster a productive and positive team environment
  • Provide timely and appropriate client care and service
  • Create a welcoming, calm and professional environment in the reception area for all clients
  • Respond in a calm and authoritative manner to all client situations
  • Responsible for incoming phone calls and email
  • Ensure prompt payment of invoices
  • Responsible for an accurate daily cash count and end of day procedure
  • Oversee the maintenance of a sanitary and functionally well-organized reception area
  • Assist in the care and treatment of animals admitted to Black Creek Animal Hospital

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 education

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university
• Experience in a receptionist capacity
• Experience with AVImark
• Experience in an veterinary hospital environment

Veterinary Assistant

Overall Responsibility:

• Assist in the care and treatment of animals admitted to Black Creek Animal Hospital. 
• Provide assistance to professional staff.
• Help to maintain a sanitary environment and a functionally well organized service within the hospital.

Registered Veterinary Technician

• Is responsible for the care and treatment of animals admitted to Black Creek Animal Hospital. 
• Provides assistance to professional staff.
• May instruct veterinary students and subordinate staff in clinical techniques.
• Assist in the maintenance of the physical area that forms treatment and surgery

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited institution for veterinary technician, continuing RVT status
• Highly competent interpersonal skills
• Pleasant, polite and professional telephone manner
• General understanding of veterinary equipment
• Competent computing skills in word processing and spread sheets

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university
• Experience with AVImark
• Experience in a veterinary hospital environment

Senior Registered Veterinary Technician

Overall Responsibility:

• Conduct all interactions with clients, staff and management according to Black Creek Animal Hospital values to foster a productive and positive team environment
• Is responsible for and supervises care and treatment of animals admitted to Black Creek Animal Hospital.
• Supervise veterinary technical staff as required.
• Provide assistance to professional staff.
• Instruct veterinary students and subordinate staff in clinical techniques.
• Oversee the maintenance of the physical area that forms treatment and surgery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited institution for veterinary technician, continuing RVT status and three years practical experience in a small animal clinic setting
• Highly competent interpersonal skills
• Pleasant, polite and professional telephone manner
• Solid working knowledge of veterinary equipment
• Competent computing skills in word processing and spread sheets

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university
• Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
• Previous experience developing and mentoring junior technical staff
• Experience with AVImark
• Advanced skills in anaesthesia and other surgical techniques
• Experience in an academic hospital environment
