Veterinary Anesthesia

Pet owners often worry when their loved one requires anesthesia for a procedure or surgery. As veterinarians, we are required to use sedatives and general anesthetics more often because pets will not sit still for procedures.

Anesthesia Safety

To ensure the maximum safety for your pet if anesthesia is required veterinarians will:

  • Discuss any signs of an illness that may pose a risk to your pet
  • Select the safest drugs according to your pet’s age and breed
  • Perform optional pre-anesthetic blood work
  • Monitor your pet’s vital signs and temperature
  • Provide fluid therapy to maintain blood pressure and an emergency IV access
  • Administer pain control to all animals
